8th Annual Longhorn Stampede

The Jones High School PTSA is hosting a 5k for the community on Saturday, April 20th. If you haven’t signed up, you can do so at at the high school during regular business hours on Thursday or Friday this week.

There are currently 106 people registered for the race. For those who have registered, packets may be picked up on Friday at City Hall from 8 am – 4 pm or in the high school parking lot from 4 pm – 6 pm. Last minute sign-ups and packet pickups will be available on race day at 7:30 am near the starting line.

Funds raised from the race will support technology in the school. The goal is to purchase a classroom set of Chrome books, which will cost around $8,000. The race was initially started 8 years ago by Bonnie Hughes, Kathy Mansell, and Dana Limke.

I’m excited to carry on the legacy of the race because all proceeds are going back to the high school. – Mike Watkins, Jones High School Principal

The 1-mile fun run will start at 8:30 am, and the 5k will begin promptly at 9 am. All participants will receive a Finishers Medal, and the top 3 male and female participants will receive an additional award.
