Jones High School Junior, Mark Williams, received special recognition on Tuesday night from the State Superintendent, Joy Hofmeister. He was the recipient of the Award for Arts Excellence for Vocal Music. This award is given to only 30 students across the state of Oklahoma who excel in dance, music, theatre, or visual art. The awards ceremony was held on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the Scottish Rite Temple in Guthrie, OK.
Mark is the real deal! He is exceptional inside and outside of the classroom. He is the type of student that keeps us coming back day in and day out. I am blessed to have been a small part of Mark’s education!
Debbie Rueda, Jones High School Choir/Theater Teacher

Mark is a member of the Jones High School Select Choir, where he recently received 1st place Superior in the State Solo competition. Some of his past accolades include the 2018 Tri-State Solo Superior and the OSSAA State Vocal Duet Superior.

Mark is looking at several options for college after graduation. His top picks are OSU, OU, UCO or USAO. He is still deciding on a major, hoping to pick between Music Education and Astrophysics. Clearly, from his prior achievements, we are certain Mark will be successful no matter which path he chooses. Congratulations to Mark on your many accomplishments!

Great kids, great program, and great teacher! Thanks for the story Jones Journal!
