The Jones FFA attended the State FFA Convention in Oklahoma City earlier this month. Students listened to motivational speakers including Alex Sheen founder of “because I said I would.” Sheen encouraged listeners to make the world a better place by making and keeping promises. Walter Bond, a former NBA player, spoke to students about the importance of writing your goals down and looking at them daily to increase your chances of accomplishing them.
The Jones FFA was recognized for participating in the FFA Hunger Challenge, where FFA members donated their swine projects to the Regional Food Bank to provide snack sticks to Oklahoma children in need. Kason Cathey, Emily Neil, and Shelby Moore received their State FFA Degree, which is the highest FFA degree you can receive at the state level.
On May 10th, the Jones FFA celebrated their accomplishments from the past year at the annual FFA Banquet. The banquet recognized the livestock show team, livestock judging team, meats evaluation team, sporting clays team, opening ceremonies team, participants of the electric contest and prepared public speaking. It also gave out other various degrees and awards.
