Over the summer, the elementary school made improvements to their South parking lot. The changes were made to improve traffic flow during drop-off and pick-up times and to allow easier access to parking for those who will be entering this building.
For parents who are dropping off or picking up their child(ren), they will enter in the Southeast gravel lot, and use the far North lane closest to the school building to drop-off and pick-up children. Children should only load and unload from the vehicles in the areas designated with longhorns, and should enter/exit the vehicles from the right side. This is for safety and time-efficiency.
During drop-offs, all students will enter at the Southwest doors until 8:10 am. All other exterior doors of the building will remain secured. After 8:10 am students can enter at the front door and go straight to class.
There is a new 2nd lane (PASS THRU ONLY) to the left of the drop-off and pick-up area. Parents who have already dropped-off or picked-up their child(ren) can pull around vehicles and exit the parking lot using this left lane.
For school visitors who wish to park a vehicle, they will enter the school parking lot from the paved Southwest entrance (Middle entrance). Parking spaces were realigned to angled parking, allowing for easier access. The new parking spaces are designated with GREEN STRIPING. Please only park in spaces designated with the green paint!! There are 27 regular spaces and one handicap space available in the new visitor lot.
Please remember that Montana will be restricted to one way traffic during school drop-off and pick-up times, flowing westbound only. Buses only will be driving on the west side of the building for drop-off.
The BIGGEST REMINDER for elementary school parents is that school day will be from 8:15 to 3:15. Parents that have high school students picking siblings should not worry about this time change. This new schedule will relieve congestion during the pickup hours with less traffic on Montana.
We hope everyone has a great first day of school tomorrow.
