High-flying Longhorns take on Lincoln Christian on Friday

The Jones Longhorns (1-0) welcome in one of the top teams in Class 3A as the Lincoln Christian Bulldogs (1-0) come to Tim Wallace Memorial Stadium at 7:00 on Friday September 6, 2019.

The Longhorns and Bulldogs are no strangers, as this is the fifth meeting in five years between the squads, with Jones victorious in 2016 and 2017, and Lincoln Christian winning in 2015 and a 34-19 home victory last year.

The Longhorns come in to the matchup riding high after a 56-8 victory over Oklahoma Christian School last week. Sophomore Quarterback Carson May threw 4 TDs and Running Back Korbin Cox made it to the endzone 3 times on the evening. But what may be the deciding factor on Friday night may be the effort by the defense. The Bulldogs come to Jones after walloping Inola 51-19 last week.

The Longhorn defense has shown it is capable, holding traditional power OCS to only 8 points and 145 total yards last week. Friday will be hands down the biggest challenge for the Jones defense so far this year.

“This is a good measuring stick for us, they are always State Title Contenders” said Longhorn head Coach Dave Martin. The Horns will get to see where they measure up on Friday in what is sure to be an entertaining game.
