Friday is Voter Registration Deadline for Upcoming Bond Election

With the October 8th bond election for Jones Public Schools quickly approaching, so is the deadline to register to vote. Per state law, you must register to vote at least 24 days before the election to be eligible to participate. Friday, September 13th is the last day to ensure your vote will count. With so much riding on our community’s future, it is important for everyone to cast a ballot.

There are so many overlapping boundary lines in the Jones community, it can be difficult to know if you qualify to vote in this election. The bond issue must be approved by voters within the Jones School District. You can check out this map to see if your home is within the district boundaries.

If you are a first-time voter in the State of Oklahoma, you can mail in this application to the Oklahoma State Election Board. If you are already a registered voter within the State, but need to update your voter registration, the process is even easier. Just fill out this online form to get your new voter id. The Oklahoma State Election Board still requires paper copies if you are applying for a new registration, a name change, or to make an address change that crosses a county line or is a rural route. Paper copies of the voter registration form can also be picked up at the Jones District Office, located at 9200 N. Hiwassee.

One of the simplest yet most important things you can do to support your school and community is register and vote.
