The JHS/JMS Choir and Musical Theater students are off and running with a busy year of performances and activities planned. With two middle school choirs totaling 45 students, two high school choirs totaling 54 students and the largest musical theater cast of 33 students, our slate of workshops, competitions and performances are underway.
Twenty-five students attended an ECOCDA Regional Honor Choir workshop in Choctaw on Sept. 26th with their first competition/audition date set for Oct. 7 at Rose State College. Thirty-five students attended an Oklahoma All-State workshop and an evening performance of the musical “The Music Man” at Oklahoma City University on Saturday, Sep. 28th. The choirs will be combining for their first performance singing the National Anthem and the Jones Alma Mater at the JHS Homecoming football game on Friday, October 4 followed by their second performance at Jones Old Timers Day on Saturday, Oct. 5 @ 11:00 a.m.
Our musical theater students will have formal auditions on Monday, September 30 for their winter performance of “The Little Mermaid”. All music performances will be announced and covered in The Jones Journal, the Facebook forum “Talk around Jones” and the Choctaw Times. We invite you to attend and continue to support the amazingly talented students from JHS and JMS.
