The Jones Longhorns (9-1) will face the Perry Maroons (7-3) in the first round of the Class 2A Playoffs on Friday night at 7:00 at Tim Wallace Memorial Stadium.
Jones Head football Coach Dave Martin emphasized the importance of the playoffs, “We’ve got to be sharp. You’ve got to bring it each and every week.”

“There are no do-overs in the playoffs.”
The Longhorns have succeeded this year with a powerful offense and a solid defense. Looking at the Maroons, containing the offense appears to be the key. Perry has averaged almost 42 points-per-game in their seven victories but only 21 points-per-game in the three defeats. Stopping the Maroons on third down and getting a few timely turnovers may be thing that can help the Longhorns make it to the next round.
The winner of this game will play the winner of the Dewey/Adair game next week. If the Longhorns win, they will host the game next Friday, getting one more chance to play in front of the home crowd in the grueling 2A Playoffs.
