The lunchroom was bustling with excitement as students and teachers waited to surprise their beloved counselor, Susan Gierhart. Mrs. Gierhart, a ten year employee of Jones Public Schools, was awarded the Magic 104.1 Teacher of the Week. While she has taught at all three schools in Jones, she currently serves students as the Middle School Counselor.
Mrs. Gierhart was nominated by local businesswoman, Christie Dean. Mrs. Dean nominated the counselor because of her dedication to her students both inside and outside of the classroom, stating that “Mrs. Gierhart is an advocate and is entirely invested in student success.”

Along with the accolades of Teacher of the Week, Mrs. Gierhart received gift certificates for local businesses, and the entire Middle School Staff was treated to lunch from Subway. She will also be eligible to win Teacher of the Year, boasting a $1,000 cash prize sponsored by American Fidelity Assurance.
When asked if she had any advice for students, her response was simple and sweet. “Be kind.”
