The #2 Lady Longhorns topped the #15 Lexington Bulldogs 72-26 in the Regional Finals Saturday Evening in Jones. The Lady Longhorns will take on the #14 Kingston Redskins 6:30 next Friday for a chance to advance to State.

The Longhorns opened the game on a 7-0 run and never looked back. The final score only gives a glimpse of the dominance of this performance. The talented #15 Bulldogs were on a six game win streak where they were averaging 52 points a game. The Lady Longhorns were able to hold them to half of that average. In fact, only three Bulldogs scored on the evening.

Head Coach Jenni Hollbrook empasiszed the defensive effort of the sqaud, “we’ve got to play defense, make stops on defense, and I thought my girls came out and executed the game plan and did exactly what they needed to do…we couldn’t let them think that they could play with us.”

The Jones squad added in a potent offense to the suffocating defense. Four Longhorns scored in double-figures, led by Tizrah Moore (14 points) and Bailey Ely (13 points). Moore finished the evening a perfect 7/7 from the field. Carley Young (12 points) and Trininty Moore (10 points) rounded out the double-digit scorers for the Longhorns.

The Horns now look forward to a meeting with the Kingston Redskins next week. The #14 Redskins made it to area with a win over Comanche in the Lindsay Regional Saturday evening.
