The bye week will come a few weeks earlier than the Jones Longhorns (1-0) expected as the game against the Lincoln Christian Bulldogs (1-0) originally scheduled for Friday September 4 has been moved to Friday September 18, 2020.
The defending Class 3A State Champion Bulldogs opened their season last week with a 36-8 victory over the Beggs Demons. However, over the weekend the Beggs School district moved to virtual learning due to “several students and staff members” testing positive for COVID-19 according to a release on the district website.
The Lincoln Christian athletic department took proactive measures and contacted the Jones Athletic department to move the clash between the Longhorns and Bulldogs to September 18th, a date both schools had open.
This gives the Longhorns a bye week following their 31-7 victory over Bethany on August 28. The Longhorns will next take the field on Friday September 11 at home against the Luther Lions at 7:00.
