Two Eastern Oklahoma County Rivals will face-off Friday evening when the Jones Longhorns (1-0) take on the Luther Lions (0-1) at 7:00 pm at Tim Wallace Memorial Stadium. Though the two schools are just 9.6 miles apart, this will be the first time the Longhorns and Lions will take the gridiron together since 2011.
The Longhorns last took the field August 28 in a 31-7 road victory against the Bethany Brochos. Luther opened the season on August 28 as well in a 24-17 loss to the Prague Red Devils.
The Longhorns look to continue the momentum from the season opening win over Bethany. Junior Quarterback Carson May was 18-28 passing for 160 yards and 2 TD with 0 interceptions. The QB also showed off his legwork with another 100 yards and a score on the ground. The Longhorn defense had a spectacular evening as well, holding the Class 4A Bronchos to only 7 points.
If you can’t make it out to the Stadium on Friday, be sure to check out the Jones Journal Broadcast of the Longhorns vs. Lions here.
