Written by Gracelynn Stewart, Jones FFA Reporter – 11th Grade

This year, Jones FFA has a new Ag. Education teacher, Ms. Buchanan. All of her students and herself included have been working countless hours focusing on many big projects. One of those projects is our opening and closing ceremony teams.

On Tuesday October 13th, 2020, Jones FFA sent one of our opening and closing team to Regionals in Tecumseh, Oklahoma to compete against 14 other teams. The winner of this contest would advance to State. Each team consists of students who practice the the roles of the FFA Officer Team, and must recite each part perfectly to demonstrate how to properly open and close an FFA meeting. The Jones team took first place and are advancing to the state opening and closing ceremony competition on Tuesday October 20th, 2020. This team consisted of President Gentry Wade 8th grade, Vice president Kacide Wallace 8th grade, Secretary Will Jasper 8th grade, Mali Bryan 8th grade, Reporter Lily Keester 9th grade, and Cole Beverly 8th grade. We are all so proud of this team and how far along they have come.

Jones FFA also sent another opening and closing ceremony team to a jackpot room in Tecumseh, Oklahoma to compete in a separate division. This team consisted of President Michaela Crawford 9th grade, Vice President Chris Veirs 9th grade, Secretary Jaden Bowles 9th grade, Treasurer Sofi Woodson 9th grade, Reporter Riley Witcher 8th grade, and Sentinel Madi Anderson 9th grade. This team also won first place in their competition.  We are all so excited about the great things Jones FFA is doing!
