On Sunday November 8, 2020 the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Athletic Association (OSSAA) released the Class 2A Playoff Bracket.
The Jones Longhorns (7-2) will host the Chisholm Longhorns (3-6) Friday night at 7:30 at Tim Wallace Memorial Stadium in Jones.
While the Longhorns and Longhorns met during a pre-season scrimmage in August. “They’ve been a strong bunch in the past that we saw in a scrimmage earlier this year” said Jones Head Football Coach Dave Martin.
“We’ve got the excitement of playoff time of what is in front of us. The opportunity to go out here and compete.”
The last time Jones took the field they took down Class 5A power Guthrie. Coach Martin was excited about that opportunity and learning experience.
“We want to extend and build on the momentum from the regular season.”
The Class 2A bracket is always grueling, due to the number of teams in the Classification. But 2020 will build in some extra difficulties as the OSSAA tweaked the playoff bracket to allow every team a chance to participate due to the COVID precautions that created uncertainty this year. This means the eventual State Champion will need to win six games to lift the gold ball on December 19.
The winner of the Jones/Chisholm game will play the winner of the Luther/Crossings Christian game on Friday November 20, 2020 at 7:30 P.M.
