In an outstanding display of the blue and gold jackets, the Jones FFA Chapter presented an epic banquet on May 7th. Hosted at the beautiful Ranch of the Saints, this event set the bar high for future chapters. Beyond just an agricultural education, FFA Members receive top-notch training in leadership, public speaking, and community service. The banquet perfectly captured the achievements of the past year, honoring the efforts in shooting sports, livestock showing, agricultural mechanics training, and a new addition of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies Team.
Even the youngest FFA Members were handed the microphone to show off their public speaking prowess and to share a bit of advice with their fellow members. Cole Beverly, 8th grade member, began his speech with such zeal and confidence, it was easy to imagine the potential for a state office for this kid. Fellow classmate, Will Jasper, shared his advice to step out of your comfort zone to engage with others.
In a year like no other, these students really shined as they demonstrated through their actions how to persevere under trial. The FFA Creed, presented by Freshman Michaela Crawford, carried an unusual weight this year, causing us to pause and reflect how we persevere through hardships. May we as a community take note of these students, and learn from their example how to be servant leaders in our homes, our churches, and our town.
