On Friday evening, May 28th at 7 pm, the BSA Troop 6357 of Jones will host a flag retirement ceremony at Beatty-Mulhausen Park in Jones. This ceremony will provide the proper disposal of the American flag in a dignified manner.
Troop 6357 invites members of the Jones community to relinquish their unserviceable flags at this ceremony. Not only will this be a great learning opportunity for troop members about the proper care and respect that is given to the flag of the United States of America, but it is also an opportunity for these young leaders to provide a service to the community. Already this year, troop members have learned how to properly care for and fold the flag. Now they will participate in laying them to rest as they learn how to remove a flag from service in a stately manner.
Jones community members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to watch the ceremony. The scout members will also have smore kits available for purchase, and a separate fire pit set up for roasting smores. This is an excellent way to support these young patriots as they continue to strive to fulfill the Scout’s mission:

Scout Mission: The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
