Longhorns and Red Devils to Clash on Friday Night with Huge District Implications

The Jones Longhorns will welcome in the Prague Red Devils from Lincoln County on Friday Night in Jones. Both teams are part of the four-way tie atop the 2A-2 standings along with Chandler and Crossings Christian. The winner will keep the hopes of a district title alive, while the loser will be relegated to a path that most assuredly guarantees a first round road trip in the playoffs in a few weeks.

Let’s look at some of the headlines.

Focus on the Seniors

This will be the last regular season home game for the fantastic group of Seniors. This group of seniors has a record of 34-10 so far in their High School Career, and would love nothing more than to add to that total. This group has done a tremendous job in helping continue the tradition of excellence in Jones.

Dance Night

Get ready for a spooky performance at Halftime as the Jones Elementary School students will present a Halloween Dance.

Series History

This will be the ninth time these teams have met since 2004 with Jones owning a 7-1 advantage. The teams were supposed to meet in 2020, but COVID protocols canceled the game. The last time the Red Devils beat the Longhorns was a 21-0 victory for Prague back in 2009.

District Implications

Jones, Prague, Crossings and Chandler all sit at 4-1. Crossings will host Meeker and Chandler will take on Kellyville. So chances are, the list of teams vying for the top spot in 2A-2 will be whittled down to three after Friday night.

Top 10 Game

For the second week in a row, The Oklahoman has ranked the Jones game as the 10th best game in the State of Oklahoma.
