Kiwanis Hometown Christmas Rescheduled to Sunday, December 5th

This will be an exciting and fun-filled weekend ahead for the community of Jones. On Saturday, December 4th, little league basketball will kick off the season with games played throughout the EOC. These little league coaches and players have already been working hard on the court, and we can’t wait to see their progress throughout this season. Games will be played all day Saturday at the Hayden Flowers Field House.

The Jones Livestock Auction will also be hosting a Special Horse and Pony sale on Saturday, with donkeys, horses, ponies in the line up. With over 150 animals anticipated for sale, you can expect a few extra trucks and trailers around town this weekend. The sale will bring buyers and sellers from Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, and Colorado. This is an amazing event for our community, as it brings in tourist dollars that will bolster our local economy and sales tax. Sale tax is generated not only on equipment, tack, and concessions sold at the Livestock Auction, but other businesses will benefit from the extra foot traffic as well. Those tourist dollars will keep churning through town as visitors spend their dollars at local restaurants and gas stations in town.

It’s not often that the Town of Jones has traffic problems, in fact, its one of the great things we enjoy about our little community, so be extra patient with our guests as they arrive. Be sure to give our visitors a friendly wave and show them the small town hospitality we can take pride in.

In light of all the tourist activity this weekend and to avoid any major congestion downtown, the Kiwanis Club has decided to reschedule their Hometown Christmas Event to Sunday evening. The 2nd annual Hometown Christmas event will be held on Sunday, December 5th. The event will start at 6 pm with a lighted Christmas Parade thru downtown and a Tree Lighting ceremony at the park at 7 pm.

Its not too late to register your vehicle for the parade. With over $100 worth of prizes given away at this event, it will be a celebration worth attending. Kiwanis Club will have free hot chocolate and donuts, plus a special guest visiting from the North Pole, you won’t want to miss out on the fun!
