Jones Superintendent Accepts Position at Oakdale

Jones Public Schools had a major announcement earlier today. Superintendent Carl Johnson will be submitting his resignation to the School Board on the March 7, 2023 meeting. He has been accepted as the new Superintendent at Oak Dale Public Schools.

He started in the Jones School District as principal of Jones High School in the fall of 2000. In 2014, he took the position of superintendent after the retirement of Mike Steele. Major events that took place under his tenure include the technology bond issue, the High School fire in 2007, the subsequent bond issue to rebuild the high school, and the latest bond election in 2019 to build the early childhood center and new football stadium.

Oakdales previous superintendent Dr. Pierce submitted his resignation in September 2022, and the Oakdale Board of Education spent the last six months searching for his replacement. The search was finalized at the February 28, 2023, when they approved the contract with Dr. Johnson. Dr. Johnson will finish out the school year at Jones, and begin at Oakdale starting July 1, 2023.

The Jones School Board will begin its search for a new Superintendent at the March meeting. The press release and information from Oakdale, along with Dr. Johnson’s letter to the community are listed below.
